The Best Places to Elope in Samuel H. Boardman State Park

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park - This Is about 30 minutes outside of Samuel H. Boardman State Park but is one of the prettiest redwoods I’ve ever seen. Really lush with tons of ferns and lots of options.

Cape Ferrelo Viewpoint- grassy area overlooking the coast and beach access, easy to get to!

Indian Sands State park - a beautiful combination of sand dunes, coastal views, and rocky cliffs it’s a long hike back up!

Best Time to Visit Samuel H. Boardman

May to October are the least rainy seasons in the PNW. I don’t mind a little mood though and especially love the low-hanging fog that makes this area so iconic. The wildflowers tend to bloom in May and June with more fog promised in September and October. The crowds come in June and July, I love an uncrowded beach so I would avoid summer if possible.

Where to eat in Brookings

Super Fly - LOVED the fish sandwich with citrus coleslaw.

Fat Irish Kitchen &Pub - Had the cheese curds and the fish tacos which were both great! My husband loved the phili cheesesteak .

Khun Thai - this was my favorite food on the list, I got the pumpkin curry level 3 spice and it was perfect.

Breakfast at Matties- It’s ok, the best breakfast in the area but its a really small town.

There is something about a nice beer after a day of hiking

Chetco Brewery- fun tasting flights and small bites from an indoor vegan food truck . Husband brews, wife runs the food truck, big open area.

Misty Mountain Brewing and Tap Haus - Very Eclectic, lord of the rings everywhere, no food.

Airbnb’s in the area-When wanting to explore Samuel H. Boardman State Park and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park I would stay away from Cresent City. I recommend staying in Brookings or Gold Beach. Crescent City has a high crime rate, I’ve met several women who didn’t feel comfortable exploring the area alone.

Redwood cabin in Crescent City - small cottage among the redwoods, close to Jedidiah redwoods

Gold Beach Home with hot tub - right on the beach

Brookings Guest House - small studio with ocean views

Look out House - Gold Beach 2 bedrooms

Wild Coast Look out - Gold Beach 2 bedrooms
