Custom House Plaza, Monterey, California Wedding Gee and Andy
I approach wedding photography like I'm shooting for a documentary, a love story. I like to believe couples and families will look back on these photos with their children and grandchildren. What an honor that I was chosen to document every detail so that Gee & Andy won't have any problem remembering their perfect day when they choose to re-tell it. Their memory gardens wedding in Monterey was magical, the magnolia trees were blooming, the sun peeked through the trees just as Andy promised Gee forever and all their loved ones gasped as Gee walked down the aisle. Photography can be a love-hate relationship, constantly comparing oneself to others, or feeling uninspired. I love when I get to step back from being the director and just watch for the beauty in the details. And there were so many beautiful details!
I’m a Super 8mm lover. There is nothing like those flickering frames and overscan vibes. I own a Braun Nizo that I've used for personal and wedding work. But man, $200 per roll is tough. So to say I've been waiting for something like the Fuji Instax Mini Evo Cinema is an understatement. I’ll be comparing the mini Instax Mimi cinema, the camp snap, and my traditional Braun Nizo. Disclaimer: nothing is beating the original, but we are using it for comparison. I will be updating this blog as I use the camera more, but I wanted to get my initial impressions up and out to you.
