Big Sur surprise proposal on the beach.
Liz and Dan spend a lot of time camping in Big Sur and working at their brewery in San Jose so they knew before getting married in Hawaii later this year that they wanted to capture their memories close to home. This time of year Carmel California beaches get the best driftwood and fun houses are built along the shore. Starting out at some fun local beaches we moved to a hill side location and found rock bridges and beautiful coastal views.
Micha and Christy’s ceremony was at The Amphitheatre of the redwoods at Pema Osel Ling retreat in the Watsonville mountains. Surrounded by giant redwoods and overlooking beautiful canyons they said their vows in front of their closest friends. Christy hula hooped and Micha lost the cup challenge and it was a day full of tears and laughter and I felt so honored to be there!
Adventurous elopement on the Big Sur California Coast.
Chelsea and Micheal were visiting Los Angeles from Philadelphia for a wedding when they decided to make it a road trip from San Francisco to LA. They contacted me several months ago to show them Big Sur and capture their moment here. During their engagement session in Philadelphia they had locked their keys to the house with the photographers gear inside. So Chelsea wanted photos “where we didn’t look mad at each other.”
I’ve photographed the Payne family for several years now and I love it every time. Being a Big Sur photographer I’m often shooting outdoors by the beach or redwoods so I was so excited about this in home lifestyle session. I love to photograph families how they naturally interact together and I feel like home sessions provide a comfortable environment for just that. Being a mom I know how fleeting these moments are; I hope Ellery and Avery can look back on these moments and remember the sweet way their mom held them, the careful planning that went into their nurseries and their home when they were little. These moments are what photography is all about, emotion, connection and love.
Today I am excited to be hiking in Big Sur with some friends just for fun! I love finding new spots just to sit and enjoy. I’ll be bringing my favorite type of canned sangria, my camera, a large bag of queso chips and a big coat because the afternoon’s have been SO chilly here lately. While shooting this fun engagement session at the beach I could barley feel my fingers clicking the shutter. Meghan and Micheal were such troopers they jumped in the freezing cold water and stood on rocks with wind ripping through their hair without complaining once. Meghan and Micheal are highschool sweet hearts and are getting married later this year in LA. I was so happy to be a part of their engagement photos! I will be shooting another wedding later this year at Big Sur Bakery and I cant wait to shoot their couples images at this beach.
